Alsa Configuration on Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DS5 Mainboard

On my Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DS5 mainboard with opensuse 10.3 the alsa mixers do not work properly: The master slider has no effect but "PCM" and "Front" both control the line output level.

Adding a line:

options snd-hda-intel model=imac24

to /etc/modprobe.d/sound and then executing the commands

rmmod snd-hda-intel
modprobe snd-hda-intel

removed most of the controls from the mixer but gives back the control over the line output level to the master slider (and the "PCM" slider).

(make shure to terminate any program that accesses the alsa driver, like mixers and others before rmmod.)

A more recent Alsa driver may have other model=<model> options, which possibly support more functions.
