SAM-Magnetograms Äkäslompolo, Suomi (67.6N, 24.3E)
combined with the data from SGO Sodankylä
January 25th to February 1st 2003
The Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory
is sited about 100km east of my own location Äkäslompolo.
The first days I had connected a single sensor for Y-direction (east/west) only.
The sensor was laying on a matress and was covered by a folded blanket.
On january 29 I installed a second sensor to also record X-direction (north/south).
Both sensors were embedded between two sheets of styrofoam of 5cm thickness.
I didn't give a lot attention to the exact alignment of my sensors to the geomagnetic
north direction. I only adjusted the east/west sensor to produce an output frequency
of about 62kHz (+-500Hz) which is said to correspond to a magnetic field of 0.
Have a look at the description page of my SAM.
